The Management Team

Mr. Hans Smit - President and CEO - Kiva Marine

Mr. Hans Smit, the President and Chief Executive Officer, has over 30 years of experience in global underwater mining and subsea exploration.

He has extensive knowledge and expertise in subsea engineering, operations, and management.

Mr. Smit’s experience in managing both engineering and deep-sea exploration businesses, along with his ability to lead complex projects with diverse teams, positions him as a key asset for Kiva Marine.

Mr. Gary van Eck - SVP Operations - Kiva Marine

Mr. van Eck is a naval architect by education and has worked in the marine industry for nearly four decades, covering a range of roles in naval service, merchant marine operations, and marine mining.

Experienced as a ship manager, he has overseen new builds as well as managed vessel conversions. In the latter part of his career, he has managed multiple marine resource exploration and mining operations for commodities such as diamonds, gold, and polymetallic nodules in several regions worldwide.

Currently, he is responsible for the day-to-day activities of Anuanua Moana.
